Private Residence Chobham

Exall Group have completed a new VMZinc Anthra zinc standing seam roof on a private residence in Chobham, Surrey. Zinc was chosen for the look, the longevity and the fact that once it's on, the client won't have to think about the roof again for decades.

The Anthra finish is a pre weathered zinc with a deep anthracite tone. There's no waiting for it to weather in — it goes on looking the way it'll look for the rest of its life. Zinc also has a self healing quality, so minor scratches and surface marks fade out over time rather than getting worse. Lifespan is typically 80 to 100 years, and at the end of it the material is fully recyclable.

The roof was installed by our directly employed metal roofing team, with all seams hand rolled on site to VMZinc's specification. Every detail — eaves, verges, ridge and penetrations — was formed by hand to make sure the finish is watertight and the workmanship is right.

Standing seam zinc isn't a system you can fake your way through. It needs the right tools, the right training and a proper understanding of how zinc moves and behaves. It's a specialism we've built across years of working with zinc, aluminium and steel.
