IPAF-certified access solutions for commercial roof projects across London and the South East. Cherry pickers, scissor lifts and fully trained operatives — safe, compliant, on programme.
Working at Height
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 place a legal duty on employers and contractors to plan, supervise and carry out all work at height safely. For commercial roofing projects, that means the right equipment, the right training and a contractor who takes compliance seriously — not one who treats access as an afterthought.
Exall Group operate our own MZ250 cherry picker alongside a range of mobile elevated work platforms, with IPAF-certified operatives across our team. The MZ250 handles the majority of commercial roof access requirements efficiently and without the delays that come with third-party hire. We cover projects across London, Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.
We deploy our access equipment on our own roofing projects as standard, and we also provide access solutions to support other contractors and facilities teams who need a trained, certificated team on site. Every job is risk-assessed, method-stated and managed in accordance with current regulations.
Our height access capability supports our wider services including condition surveys, gutter cleaning, emergency repairs and general maintenance — giving clients a single contractor for access and works.
Process
Before any work at height begins, we produce a site-specific risk assessment and method statement. This covers access routes, ground conditions, overhead hazards, exclusion zones and emergency procedures.
We select the right platform for your site — cherry picker, scissor lift or other MEWP — based on working height, reach requirements, surface conditions and access constraints. Our own fleet means no third-party delays.
All Exall Group operatives working at height hold current IPAF certification. We don't put untrained personnel on platforms — every operative is assessed, certificated and briefed before work begins.
On completion, the site is inspected, equipment is removed and the area is left clear. All documentation — including risk assessments, method statements and IPAF certificates — is available on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 apply to all work carried out at height in the UK, including commercial roofing. They require that work at height is properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out by competent people using suitable equipment. Exall Group operate in full compliance with these regulations on every project.
IPAF stands for the International Powered Access Federation. IPAF certification confirms that an operative has been trained and assessed to safely operate mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) including cherry pickers and scissor lifts. All Exall Group operatives working on MEWPs hold current IPAF certification.

Our current fleet reaches up to 28 metres, which covers the vast majority of commercial and industrial roofing projects. If a project requires greater reach, we can advise on the appropriate solution.
